About us
Bakersfield Youth Fine Arts Academy (BYFA) is an organization that specializes in the education of youth in the visual and performing arts and the enrichment of our community through live performances. Due to lack of funding, fine arts programs are generally the first to be eliminated from many schools’ standard learning curriculum. BYFA’s primary goal is to fill that void. In a technology driven age, BYFA has a strong conviction to keep the soul of the arts alive by offering it to the future…our children. The enrichment of our children in the visual and performing arts has benefits of improving the skills of acting, singing, dancing, painting, drawing and sculpting. However, the most fundamental benefits of studying the fine arts are promoting creativity, gaining social skills by working in teams, building self-confidence and encouraging individuality in self-expression. BYFA views these benefits as invaluable assets to mold children into becoming successful adults.

2023 Broadway Musical Summer Workshop "Beauty and the Beast, Jr."
June 12-July 15 (no classes on July 3 or 4)
AM Session - Mon.- Thur. 9am-12pm
(performances July 14 & 15)
PM Session - Mon.-Thurs. 1pm-4pm
(performances July 13 & 15)
*Performances will be held at Centennial High School Auditorium
(8601 Hageman Rd.)
*Rehearsals will be held at a private residence in the Stockdale area.
Ages 6-19
$375 per student
(cost includes training, costume rental, cast t-shirt and 2 comp tickets to the show.)

Our BYFA summer workshop will offer 4 weeks of intense vocal/acting/dance training by some of the most talented instructors in California. At the end of the session, the hard work will culminate into a professional production of the Broadway show, "Beauty and the Beast" with costumes, make-up, body mics, lights & sets. Everyone that signs up receives a role.

A student's enrollment is only reserved if tuition is paid in full.
Tuition is non-refundable after June 15th(first week of workshop).
