About Us
Bakersfield Youth Fine Arts Academy (BYFA) is an organization that specializes in the education of youth in the visual and performing arts and the enrichment of our community through live performances. Due to lack of funding, fine arts programs are generally the first to be eliminated from many schools' standard learning curriculum. BYFA's primary goal is to fill that void. In a technology driven age, BYFA has a strong conviction to keep the soul of the arts alive by offering it to the future...our children. The enrichment of our children in the arts has benefits of improving acting, singing, dancing, painting, drawing and sculpting skills. However, the most fundamental benefits of studying the fine arts are promoting creativity, gaining social skills by working in teams, building self-confidence and encouraging individuality in self-expression. BYFA views these benefits as invaluable assets to mold children into well-rounded, successful adults.
2026 Broadway Musical Summer Workshop

Our 2026 Broadway Musical Summer Workshop is coming up! It is a four week summer singing/acting/dancing workshop that culminates into a professional big-stage production of a Broadway show taught by nationally trained instructors that are working in the business as educators and performers. Students will learn about the auditioning process, vocal techniques, acting skills and choreography…and at break time we swim and snack (a certified lifeguard is on hand at all times). During the final week of workshop, our students will present the Broadway show…”The Wizard of Oz” !
For rehearsals, location is a private residence in the Stockdale Estates area (address will be given once student is enrolled and paid). Then for the last week of workshop, we will move into the auditorium at West High School (1200 New Stine Rd.) and add the big stage, costumes, sets, make-up, lights professional sound and body mics!
Workshop runs June 1-27 Mon.-Fri. Ages 5-18
Tuition is $400 per student and includes training, materials, costume rental, show t-shirt and two comp tickets to the show. Tuition is non-refundable after MAY 1...no exceptions. (students may be asked to provide their own footwear or under garments for the performances)

Our workshops are absolutely extraordinary experiences that your child will never forget. We watch our students learn, grow and gain confidence that will stay with them their entire lifetimes. It is a truly magical experience!
